The ecotoxicological dossier for a plant protection product must consist of studies and a risk assessment for non-target organisms. Non-target organisms refers to the following groups of organisms:

• Terrestrial vertebrates
• Aquatic organisms
• Bees
• Arthropods other than bees
• Earthworms and other non-target soil macro-organisms
• Non-target soil micro-organisms
• Non-target higher land-based plants

The ecotoxicology guide provides a detailed overview of the data requirements, and the risk assessments to be carried out for the ecotoxicology component. However in no event does this replace the prevailing legal data requirements.
