Privacy policy

The following information concerns the protection of your personal data. These are data by which you can be identified directly or indirectly, such as your first name, last name, email address, and IP address.

Personal data are collected when:

  • you browse the pages of this website. These pages begin with ‘https://fytoweb.be/en’ in your browser. If a link redirects you to another portal site, website, online application or social network, then you must refer to the personal data processing terms provided by the controllers of those services
  • you contact us.

You are protected in accordance with:

  • Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (entered into force on 25 May 2018) on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (GDPR)
  • the Belgian Law of 8 December 1992 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data.

Legal basis and purposes of processing

Personal data are collected and processed in order to:

  • inform you (automatic dispatch of the electronic newsletter, mailing of brochures)
  • respond to your inquiries
  • manage your files or requests.

Data are also collected and processed anonymously:

  • for statistical and quality purposes, with a view to improving our services
  • to provide you with a response in your language.

If your request for information or service concerns another authority, we will provide you with that authority’s contact details and you are free to contact them or not.

Processed data

In the two situations outlined in the table below, personal data are automatically collected and processed.

Exchange of emails via the contact form and messaging may also involve:

  • technical data possibly linked to your email
  • your postal address for sending documents and/or publications.

Other personal data that may be processed are recorded in the data processing register.

Non-personal data are automatically collected without being linked to your IP address and thus in respect of your anonymity. These are used to compile statistics and to improve the portal content, and may include:

  • language preference
  • search engine used
  • keywords used
  • referring website
  • pages visited
  • duration of page views
  • list of downloaded files
  • date and time of access
  • browser used
  • platform and/or operating system installed on your computer.

Retention period

  • Your IP address is retained for 12 months
  • Cookies are retained depending on the type (up to a maximum of 2 years)
  • Exchanges via the contact form and email are retained for 5 years.

In exceptional cases, such as legal proceedings, your personal data may be retained longer.

Security

The FPS Public Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment ensures the security (integrity and confidentiality) of your personal data. These data are protected against unauthorized access, unlawful use, loss and unauthorized changes.

To this end, we use security technologies and procedures, which we do not describe in detail here for security reasons.

Please note: appropriate physical, technical and organisational measures are in place to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risks.

Right of access, rectification, objection and erasure

You have several rights regarding the personal data we process: the right of access, rectification, objection, and the right to erasure. Contact us if you wish to exercise one of these rights.
Your request will be processed within 30 calendar days. If your request is complex or if our services are facing a high number of requests, this period may be extended by 60 days.

Complaints
