This covers all fertilisers and organic fertilisers, as well as soil conditioners, growth substrates, potting soils, sewage plant sludge or other surpluses that can be used in agriculture. Plant biostimulants are also included.

Fertilisers, soil conditioners, growth substrates, sewage sludge or related products may only be placed on the market in Belgium if they comply with the criteria of the positive list or if they have been granted marketing authorisation. The positive list describes the authorised products and is decided at EU-level. For any product which is not authorised at EU level, an application is needed for a national authorisation (exemption).

The Regions are responsible for recycling agricultural waste and protecting the environment.
