Adjuvants include antifoams, bonding agents, synergists, safeners and other substances which are placed on the market to improve the action of plant protection products. The co-formulants of plant protection products do not fall under adjuvants based on this definition.

In accordance with article 1 of the Royal Decree of 28 February 1994 adjuvants are treated as "other products that can be applied in agriculture".

Authorisation of an adjuvant

Like plant protection products, adjuvants are assessed by the Authorisation Committee. The application dossier is submitted with a draft Registration Report and the assessment is made in accordance with the Belgian national requirements. A guide containing the requirements has been drawn up to help applicants prepare their dossiers.
