Research: GEP and trial products

In order to be able to sell a plant protection product in Belgium, the authorisation holders must demonstrate its efficacy. This is done by means of scientific studies. In order to be sure that these studies are of good quality, they must be carried out by an approved institution. When carrying out their tests, these institutions must comply with given quality standards and international guidelines. Find more information regarding GEP approvals here.

If during the carrying out of these tests, they wish to use non-authorised plant protection products, they must request an authorisation. This is also the case if they wish to use an authorised plant protection product in a crop for which this product is not yet authorised. Find more information regarding trial products here.
