As of 29 July 2019, a number of fees for applications for authorisation of plant protection products will be increased. The method of calculating the annual contributions that will apply to the quantities sold in 2020 and payable in 2021 will also be modified.
Annual sales data of plant protection products are essential for several social actors and especially for those interested in the sustainable development of agriculture. This information is now available online.
The United Kingdom (UK) will normally leave the European Union soon. We shortly summarise the consequences of the Brexit for parallel import permits, for applications for plant protection products with the UK as Zonal Rapporteur Member State, for applications for mutual recognition and for the location of authorisation holders.
As of 2019, Belgium will be the first European member state to evaluate the new data requirements for bees according to the EFSA Guidance document. No agreement is reached on European level to take into account the since 2016 additionally required studies, which is why Belgium decided to take the lead.
The recently published studies that suppose to demonstrate that glyphosate is causing health issues in doses that are considered safe do not contain worrying information. Possible effects on DNA were not even examined at all.
